Why subscribers are using Airtel Money for the first time

Airtel cut off the transaction fees last year so as to increase its share of subscribers. By cutting transaction fees, Airtel is looking to urge subscribers to make more transactions on Airtel Money leading to agents earning more commission on withdrawals made within its network.

Airtel Money currently has more than 4 million users and 6, 000 agents countrywide and the number is expected to grow by the end of the year. About 500,000 transactions are done  every month on Airtel Money.

Many people are using Airtel Money for the first time. Why? After talking to several first time users of Airtel Money, I found out the reason why.

 It costs nothing
Sending Money via Airtel Money is free across all networks. Withdrawal charges for both on-net and off-net customers are the same
It allows testing
With free P2P transfer, users can test and become familiar with the Airtel Money without incurring any cost.

 It’s just right
Regular subscribers with basic mobile money transfer needs send an average of Kshs 2,500 per month and benefit with Airtel Money as they normally make savings of KES 30 every time.

The process of starting to use Airtel Money is quick and easy. All customers would have to worry about is signing up for the service.
