Safaricom raises M-PESA tariffs

M-PESA users will pay 10 per cent more to send and receive money as from next Friday.

The decision by Safaricom to raise M-PESA tariffs by 10% is due to the new excise duty tax that parliament voted for in December 2012.

The government expects to raise an additional Sh4.5 billion in the current fiscal year from the mobile money taxation.
How will this new taxation impact the mobile money industry in Kenya?  Let me now your thoughts in the comments section below.
