You Can Now Pay Hospital Bills Using M-PESA

Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) is now M-PESA compliant following a successful introduction of the M-PESA services after the signing of agreement with mobile phone service provider Safaricom Ltd. Through M-PESA business number 553400, clients can now pay for KNH medical bills using M-PESA.

How to Pay hospital bill with M-PESA:
  1. Select Pay Bill from your M-PESA MENU
  2. Enter the hospital business number
  3. Enter 'Patient number' in the account number option
  4. Enter the amount to pay
  5. Enter your M-PESA PIN
  6. Confirm details are correct and press OK

Finally, you will receive a confirmation message from M-Pesa and then obtain a receipt from the KNH cash point.

However, for one to use this service, the user must have M-PESA service enabled SIM card on their phone, patient number and the amount to be paid in order to obtain the authorization number which grants him/her a receipt from the cashier upon presenting it.

The introduction of M-PESA is milestone in the collection and management of revenue as well as enhancing efficiency in settlement of hospital bills. This will not only reduce the long queue but will also reduce the exchange of cash when one is paying for medical services at KNH.

Currently, the service is being pilot at the Accident and Emergency (Casualty) cash point and will soon be applicable in all other cash points within the hospital.

This will be a celebration for over 2000 clients (both in and out-patients) who are served daily AT KNH because payment process will now be faster and convenient.
